Zelenskyi: previously, more than 3,000 North Korean soldiers were killed or wounded in Kurshchyna

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief – he announced this on December 23.

According to him, the participants of the meeting “worked out the work with Syria in detail” after the fall of Bashar Assad’s regime. Intelligence services, ministers of defense and foreign affairs of Ukraine reported.

“We are deciding on our strategy, concrete steps. “Ukraine is interested in stabilizing the situation in Syria and in the region in general and will support the necessary efforts of partners,” Zelenskyy said.

He called it fundamental for the security of Syria and the region in general to “remove any Russian presence” from this country.

“We are grateful to every country and every leader who are now ready to help the Syrian society restore normal life and build effective state institutions. We will certainly support the people of Syria in food security. All necessary decisions for this have been made on our part, Ukraine is ready to supply food,” the president said.

He expressed his willingness to work with Syrian representatives to correct Assad’s mistakes, in particular, regarding Ukraine and Europe.

In addition, Zelenskyi added, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi delivered a report at the meeting regarding the front and areas of the Kursk operation.

“There are risks of sending an additional number of soldiers and military equipment for the Russian army from North Korea, and there will be our tangible responses to this. Now, according to preliminary data, the number of killed and wounded North Korean soldiers in Kurshchyna exceeds 3,000 people,” he said.

The head of state expressed his belief that the growing cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang increases the risk of destabilization around the Korean Peninsula and in neighboring regions. In particular, he called the transfer of modern war experience and military technology from Russia to the DPRK a global threat.

Yonhap Agency, citing South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, reported on December 23 that North Korea may be preparing to deploy additional units and military equipment to Russia in support of Moscow’s war against Ukraine.

Earlier, the spokesman of the US Department of Defense announced data on the losses of North Korean forces as a result of participation in the battles in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, according to which “several hundred North Korean forces suffered losses or several hundred losses, ranging from killed in action to wounded.”

According to South Korean intelligence, at least 100 North Korean soldiers stationed in Russia were killed and another 1,000 were wounded during battles with Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Kursk region.

The Security Service of Ukraine confirmed the reports of the Western media about hundreds of wounded North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

According to the USA, South Korea and Ukraine, 10,000 to 12,000 North Korean soldiers arrived in Russia in October. They were involved in the war on the side of Russia, units of the DPRK are used in the Kursk region.

Moscow and Pyongyang did not confirm the direct participation of the North Korean military in the fighting.
