Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that Ukraine is working to exclude the Russian Federation from all international human rights institutions.

Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, told Telegram about this.

On the Day of Employees of the Diplomatic Service of Ukraine, the ombudsman congratulated the diplomats: “I sincerely congratulate everyone who moves on the diplomatic path, uniting countries and peoples for common goals and peace. Thanks to your hard work, Ukraine confidently holds its place in the world.”

The ombudsman’s office actively conducts a dialogue with international partners and has already held more than 400 meetings, made more than 100 foreign visits, the results of which were human rights initiatives and the implementation of a number of humanitarian issues, he noted.

“As the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I was elected to the Board of Directors of the European Region of the International Ombudsman Institute in January 2024. And already in the autumn of the same year, my colleagues elected me a member of the board of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI),” wrote Lubinets .

He called it a “big victory” for the Office of the Ombudsman that the institution of the Russian human rights ombudsman is no longer a national human rights institution from October 2024. The decision was made by the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (SCA GANHRI) Subcommittee on Accreditation based on information provided by the office at its fall session. In the list of 118 accredited national human rights institutions from around the world, there is no longer an institution of the aggressor state of Russia.

In addition, in August 2022 it was expelled from the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), the largest network of ombudsmen in the world, and in 2023 the institution of the Russian ombudsman for human rights was jointly expelled from the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI).

In October 2024, “with joint efforts, we expelled the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation from the Association of Ombudsmen of the Mediterranean (AOM),” the ombudsman said.

“We are working to isolate the Russian Federation from all international networks and platforms of national human rights institutions and ombudsmen,” Lubinets noted.

He emphasized that work to strengthen Ukraine on international platforms will continue.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, said that against the background of the Kursk operation of the Defense Forces, the aggressor state Russia initiated communication with Ukraine regarding exchanges for the first time.

Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets also denied the statement of the Russian commissioner Tetyana Moskalkova, who published a list of Ukrainian prisoners of war whom Ukraine allegedly “does not want” to take.
