In Poland, fines will be imposed for saving on heating in multi-apartment buildings

In Poland, fines will be imposed for saving on heating in apartment buildings. Residents of multi-apartment buildings in Poland may receive a fine if they do not comply with the established temperature regime. This is reported by Gazeta Prawna, writes UNN.

Inspectors in Poland check whether tenants comply with the minimum temperature in the premises. Unfair savings on heating can affect your neighbors and expose you to a fine.

With the beginning of the heating season, housing and construction cooperatives throughout Poland conduct temperature checks in apartments. This is aimed at combating the so-called “thermal parasitism” – the practice when residents turn off the heating in their home, relying on the heat from their neighbors.

This has several negative consequences, because the lack of proper heating contributes to:

– increasing heating costs for other residents;

– unfair distribution of accounts;

– damage to the building (increased humidity or mold growth).

Inspections carried out by housing and construction cooperatives, caused by the increase in the cost of heating and the need for a fair distribution of fees,

According to the order of the Minister of Infrastructure, the minimum temperature in living spaces should be 20 °C, and in bathrooms – 24 °C. However, some communities allow lowering the temperature to 16–17°C. A fine of up to PLN 500 can be issued for non-compliance with these norms.
