“The United States at the United Nations: China is a crucial supporter of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The US ambassador to the United Nations accused China of supplying Russia with military components for the war with Ukraine. China supplies materials for bombs, parts for weapons factories and technology for drones.”, — write on: unn.ua
Wood noted that China’s support for Russia clearly contradicts the principles of the UN Charter. China stated in this Council that sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected, but if China was serious, it would use its influence to prevent Russia from violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
“Let’s look not at China’s words, but at its actions. China continues to supply Russia’s military industrial base with dual-use goods such as bomb-making materials, machine parts, equipment and tools for weapons factories, technology that powers drones and missiles.russia needs these chinese goods for its attacks on the civilian population and infrastructure of ukraine.the chinese companies are making a profit from them.by continuing to allow these exports, beijing is telegraphing tacit approval of Russia’s war. And Chinese companies even helped to develop and manufacture long-range attack drones for Russia,” said the permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations.
According to him, if China really wants a “peaceful resolution” to Russia’s war against Ukraine, it should cut off supplies to the Russian military machine, impose sanctions on Russia, call on Russia to withdraw its troops, and lead the international community as a permanent member of this Council, which is responsible for protection of the principles of the UN Charter.
“Instead, China is a crucial enabler of Russia’s war against Ukraine and has refused to use its influence constructively. It has provided Russia with political cover by repeating Russia’s false justifications for the war and suggesting that we ignore the UN Charter because ‘the situation on the ground has changed.’ to associate Russia’s aggression in Ukraine with North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, while it is clear that Russia is helping North Korea with its nuclear ambitions in exchange for troops and weapons to use against Ukraine. As for Russia, China has demonstrated that it is not a legitimate subject of the world.
In this Council, China laid out its three principles for war: “no expansion of the battlefield, no escalation of the conflict and no provocations.” But China stood aside when Russia violated all three principles, drawing North Korea into the conflict. Russia sent nearly 12,000 North Korean troops, including elite special forces, to fight Ukraine.
Russia also violated numerous resolutions of this Council by importing from the DPRK more than 20,000 shipping containers of ammunition containing at least 6 million heavy artillery shells and more than 100 ballistic missiles. China has significant influence over both Moscow and Pyongyang, but it has refused to use that influence to counter military cooperation between Russia and North Korea,” Wood added.
