Ahead of A Complete Unknown‘s theatrical release on Dec. 25, Levi’s Vintage Clothing drops a limited-edition capsule featuring reproductions of Bob Dylan’s wardrobe staples. The items in the collection are also seen on Timothée Chalamet, who stars as young Dylan in the James Mangold-directed biopic.
Available to shop on levi.com beginning Dec. 20, the Levi’s Vintage Clothing x A Complete Unknown collection includes a stitch-for-stitch reproduction of Bob Dylan’s 1955 501 jeans sold with a leather “D” buckle belt, inspired by the one Dylan always wore. The drop also welcomes the 1960s Suede Jacket, a timeless remake of the classic Trucker Jacket worn by the singer.
Levi’s Vintage Clothing 1955 Customized 501 Men’s Jeans
The jeans, sold in tandem with the signature “D” belt, feature bootcut panel inserts inspired by the ones Dylan’s former girlfriend added to his pair, and the watch pocket has a note that reads, “I’ll let you be in my dreams, if I can be in yours,” one of the singer’s early lyrics.
Only 200 of the genuine suede leather jacket were made. It has two chest pockets and a snap button-up front. The inside pocket also includes costume notes from the scene that the jacket is featured in.
Each purchase comes with exclusive packaging filled with Dylan’s original lyrics, film stills and tributes, including cue cards from “Subterranean Homesick Blues” and a handwritten note.
During the film’s production, the Levi’s team worked closely with costume designer Arianne Phillips to capture the authentic denim fits of young Bob Dylan. They referenced Levi’s expansive archives to recreate historically accurate styles.
