Advisor to the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, Nazariy Volyanskyi, announced the alleged lowering of the mobilization age in Ukraine at the beginning of 2025. But the parliament claims that this is impossible.

Nazarii Volyanskyi told the mass media that European and American partners are allegedly calling on Ukraine to lower the mobilization age to 18 years from 2022, and this is inevitable.

“Therefore, when I am asked whether it will decrease – of course, it will decrease. For example, next year, I think, in the first months, January, February, March, such a decision will be made,” he added.

Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, said in a comment to RBC-Ukraine that there are still no legislative initiatives to lower the mobilization age.

“Even if they appear in some head, from the point of view of the procedures, it is quite a long process,” he added.

At the same time, according to him, it is “hardly” possible for anyone to win votes in the parliament for lowering the mobilization age.

Venislavsky also clarified that there are no discussions about lowering the mobilization age among the members of the defense committee.

Earlier, the USA called on Ukraine to lower the mobilization age to 18 years. However, there is no sense in this, as the country does not receive the promised weapons from its partners on time, said Dmytro Lytvyn, adviser to the President of Ukraine.

And the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said at the briefing that Ukraine actively informs its partners about the dynamics of mobilization, but currently the main priority is to ensure the quick and timely delivery of weapons to the Defense Forces.

The Verkhovna Rada is not considering any legislative initiatives to lower the mobilization age. Ideas regarding the forced mobilization of women were also not brought up for consideration.
