The abbot of the Vinnytsia Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) received a real prison term for justifying Russian aggression.
According to the SBU, during sermons and communication with believers, the archpriest praised Putin and heroized the Russian groups that are trying to occupy our country. At the same time, the cleric expressed hope for the capture of Vinnytsia region and other regions of the central part of Ukraine.
SBU employees documented the archpriest’s crimes and informed him of the suspicion in August of this year.
Examinations initiated by the Security Service confirmed the facts of information-subversive activities of the abbot of the temple in favor of the Russian Federation.
Taking into account the cooperation with the investigation, the court found the cleric guilty of ch. 2 and ch. 3 Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants). The perpetrator was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Earlier, a cleric of the UOC (MP) recruited by the Russians, who passed on information about the defense of Sumy Oblast to the FSB, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported suspicion of treason to the ex-abbot of one of the cathedrals of the Kherson Diocese of the UOC MP Oleksiy (Aleksandr Fedorov), who is hiding on the occupied left bank of the Kherson Region.
