24-year-old American tennis player Jenson Brooksby told for the first time how he lives with autism spectrum disorder:

“The time has come to share what I have been silent about all my life. I was diagnosed with severe autism spectrum disorder at a very early age. I didn’t speak until I was four. I needed 40 hours of intensive ABA therapy per week.

My mother never gave up and did everything to help me. Without her, I would not be where I am now. I was lucky that my parents refused to give up. I decided it was time to tell my story. I hope this inspires the family to never give up.

The last 23 months have been very difficult for me [через дискваліфікацію]. Surround yourself with good people and never give up. I am grateful to be able to return to professional tennis in Australia. See you soon!”.

In October 2023, Brooksby was banned for 18 months for anti-doping violations. The American did not provide doping control with correct information about his location and missed out-of-competition checks. The ITIA later reduced his suspension to 13 months.

In 2021, Jenson surprisingly won the first set against Novak Djokovic in the round of 16 at the US Open, but still lost the match, trailing in the next three sets. On June 13, 2022, Brooksby reached the record 33rd line of the ATP rating.

Brooksby will return to the Tour in 2025. His name is on the Australian Open application list.
