The Security Service of Ukraine gathered evidence on the Russian general who organized the missile attack on the Sapphire hotel in Kramatorsk, where the film crew of the international news agency Reuters was staying on August 24, 2024.

Details: Then, as a result of being hit by a Russian ballistic missile, a Reuters employee was killed, and 5 more of his colleagues were injured.
According to SBU investigators, the person responsible for this air attack is the Russian colonel-general Oleksiy Kim. He holds the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (according to the temporary staff list, he is the Chief of Staff-Deputy Commander of the Joint Grouping of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and at the same time the head of the Center for the Organization of Fire and Nuclear Damage of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Prosecutor General’s Office adds.
It is emphasized that it was Kim who signed the directive and gave the combat order to fire damage to the hotel, where only civilians were staying.
To carry out the attack, the Russian colonel-general involved one of the units of the missile forces under his command.
According to Kim’s battle order, his subordinates hit the hotel with an Iskander-M ballistic missile.
The building of a civilian facility was completely destroyed by the fire, and in addition to Reuters journalists, 5 other civilians were injured in various degrees of severity.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service informed the Russian Colonel-General Kim in absentia about the suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
h 2 Art. 28, ch. 2 Art. 437 (waging an aggressive war);
h 2 Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war).
Complex measures are currently underway to bring the perpetrator to justice.
