The largest cyber attack on the state registers of Ukraine was being prepared for several months, but the Security Service of Ukraine said that they could not disclose the details of its preparation.
This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Minister of Justice Olga Stefanishyna and a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine at a joint press conference.
They reported that a criminal case has been opened in connection with the cyber attack, and that the GRU hacker group of the Russian Federation may be behind the attack. All registers are currently suspended. The SBU could not answer whether the enemy had access to information from the registers.
Stefanishyna said that there are backup copies of the registers for all time, so when it is safe, they will resume their operation in the usual form, there is no risk of irreversibility.
We would like to remind you that due to the malfunction of some state registers, the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are forced to suspend the provision of separate registration services for vehicles related to the change of ownership.
