The national team’s invitation came amid the signing of a multi-year agreement between the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) and CONCACAF in August. The investment followed one of the world’s largest oil companies, Aramco (in which the SA government owns a controlling stake), becoming an “official energy partner” of the organization.
From 1996 to 2005, an additional country was invited to participate in the Gold Cup. After a 16-year absence, Qatar joined the CONCACAF-hosted tournament in 2021 and 2023.
The 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup starts on June 14, and the final is scheduled for July 6. The USA and Canada have already qualified as hosts, and Mexico as the current winner. Also, Haiti, El Salvador, Curaçao, Panama and the Dominican Republic have already passed the selection.
