Bloomberg writes about it.The publication reminds that the head of the Bulgarian government said that he needs the consent of the parliament to ratify the agreement, postponing the signing ceremony with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, which was supposed to take place on the sidelines of the meeting of the leaders of the European Union in Brussels on Thursday. The document, in particular, provides assistance in the field of security and training for Kyiv in its fight against the invasion of Russia.
“Glavchev’s rejection of the deal is the latest chapter in the current political crisis in Bulgaria. Over the past four years, the country has held seven elections with inconclusive results and short-lived governments. Sofia’s support for Kyiv, which has been mixed, is a delicate political move by the country- a member of the EU, which has a history of close ties with Russia,” the article says.
According to Glavchev, he is worried about the 10-year term of the agreement. At the same time, he added that the EU should “demonstrate unity” with Ukraine, and said that assistance to Kyiv should be provided as long as possible until a “sustainable and just peace” is achieved.
At the same time, media outlets emphasize that former Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, whose party won the October elections, is now negotiating with smaller parties, including pro-Russian socialists, in an attempt to build a stable coalition. At the same time, the socialists, as well as the nationalist parties, expressed their disagreement with the adoption of the security agreement.
