Prehistory:
- “Ukrainian Pravda” published an investigation into the extortion of money and abuse of servicemen in the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky ordered an inspection and suspended the commander of the military unit Oleg Poberezhniuk for the duration of the inspection.
- The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Dmytro Lazutkin, stated that the Ministry of Defense had not received any reports of abuse from soldiers of the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

- On December 17, employees of the State Criminal Investigation Department began investigating criminal proceedings to identify possible facts of the use by officials of the 211 pontoon-bridge brigade of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of non-statutory measures of influence and violence against subordinates. The police of the Ternopil Region informed the commander of this unit, Oleh Poberezhniuk, of suspicion of abuse of office.
