A policeman wounded as a result of a Russian attack on the Chernihiv region on the evening of December 18 died in the hospital, Vyacheslav Chaus, the head of the regional military administration, said on December 19.

“The doctors did everything possible, but it was not possible to save the man. Police Major Serhiy Havluk died while on duty,” he said.

According to Chaus, in total, during the day, the Russian army carried out 21 shellings of the region.

Earlier, the police reported that a policeman and a teenage boy were wounded as a result of a Russian strike in the Novgorod-Siversky district on the evening of December 18.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful in nature.
