The singer admitted that he listens to Russian music, despite the war in Ukraine.In an interview for Slava Dyomin, the performer noted that she had not heard anything about this scandal and learned about it for the first time during the interview. As you know, Mykyta Leontiev (the real name of the ENLEO participant) made it to the longlist of the National Selection, that is, he became one of the 20 artists who will fight for the right to represent Ukraine on the international stage. However, later a Ukrainian blogger published a video with the singer, in which the latter admitted that he listens to Russian artists, in particular, Oxxxymiron.
In his justification, he noted that the rapper left the Russian Federation and does not support the war, and he also donated to the Armed Forces. However, other Russians, including LSP and Markul, were also noticed in Nikita’s audition list.
Karol noted that listening to Russian music is not a violation of the National Selection rules, so currently ENLEO is not under threat of disqualification. At the same time, says Tina, from a moral point of view, the artist did not act quite correctly.
Also, in defense of Leontiev, the star added that Oxxxymiron was recognized as a “foreign agent” in the Russian Federation, and she also started singing in Ukrainian only in 2022. Despite the scandal with the artist, the celebrity praised his performance at the audition and indicated that he has every chance of making it to the finals.
“He didn’t actually break the rules. Morally, it seems so. But Oxxxymiron, as far as I remember, is a “foreign agent”. It affects people, it triggers. It’s understandable, and it’s normal that people react. For me, everything is specific It’s been a long time since 2014. But I also performed songs in Russian after the 14th, although we were always in Ukraine. The organizing committee will decide whether it is guilty or not. I will honestly say that ENLEO is one of those who performed very strongly at the audition,” Karol said.
