The NATO Assistance Command for Ukraine has started work in Wiesbaden, Germany, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Wednesday, December 18.

“The NATO command in Wiesbaden for providing assistance to Ukraine in the field of security and training is already functioning. But we must go further to decisively change the course of this war,” he said during a press conference.

According to him, the members of the alliance remain committed to fulfilling the financial obligation to provide Ukraine with 40 billion euros of security assistance.

Earlier, Mark Rutte announced that the new NATO center in Wiesbaden (NSATU), which will deal with assistance to Ukraine, will be operational by the end of 2024.

At the 2024 Washington Summit, NATO member states agreed to create a NATO Security Assistance and Training Program for Ukraine (NSATU) to coordinate the provision of military equipment and training to Ukraine by NATO member states and partners, as well as to provide logistical support. Its aim is to put security assistance to Ukraine on a solid footing, providing enhanced, predictable and coordinated support over the long term.
