The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrsky, commented on the importance of the Kursk operation. Success was achieved due to the effect of suddenness.

He said this in an interview with Le Monde.

“I had no choice, I had to carry out this operation. I had to simultaneously disrupt the offensive on Kharkiv, relieve part of the pressure on all fronts and prevent the opening of a new front on Sumy. Therefore, I decided to conduct an offensive where the enemy had a weak point , with a very small number of soldiers to guard the border,” Sirskyi explained.

The Kursk operation was carried out with “relatively few Ukrainian troops”, thanks to which the enemy did not achieve its goals, added the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

The general believes that in this way the Russian offensive potential was weakened and the intensity of attacks was reduced, “with the exception of Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo”.

The day before, Ukrainian forces repelled 29 attacks by the occupiers in the Kursk region.
