Details
As State Secretary Ian Murray said, the golden-haired cherub next to the Christmas tree was drawn by 12-year-old Amelia Marchenko from the Donetsk region. The girl’s family was forced to escape the war twice – first in 2014, and later in 2022. Now Amelia lives in the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh.
For the first time, a government office held a competition to create an image for a Christmas card. According to its terms, children between the ages of 5 and 16 who attend classes at the Ukrainian Community Center in Edinburgh could submit their works. Participants were asked to combine elements of Ukrainian and Scottish culture in their drawings.
