The government has allocated over UAH 2.6 billion, provided by the European Commission, for free school meals, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

“This will make it possible to provide free hot meals for primary school children in secondary education institutions, taking into account their needs. The initiative is implemented within the framework of the “Winter Support” program for Ukrainians. Next year, we plan to expand it to all schoolchildren,” he said.

Earlier, in October 2024, the government allocated 2 billion hryvnias for the organization of free hot meals for primary schools. As of the end of November, 93% of educational institutions used the subvention funds and introduced free meals for students of grades 1-4.
