British intelligence: since February 2022, Russia has lost more than 3,600 battle tanks in the war

Since February 2022, Russia has lost more than 3,600 main battle tanks, currently the losses of military equipment of the Russian forces in Ukraine continue to grow, reports the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain with reference to intelligence data.

According to the British Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost more than 3,600 main battle tanks and almost 8,000 units of armored vehicles in Ukraine.

“This led to dependence on outdated and poorly maintained Soviet-era equipment from strategic warehouses. Armored vehicles are taken out of storage, if possible, modernized and sent to the front,” the intelligence noted.

The report includes satellite images that confirm a significant reduction in the number of armored vehicles from 2022 at tank storage bases in the Russian cities of Arsenyev, Bui and Ulan-Ude.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, as of the morning of December 17, Russia lost 9,567 tanks, 19,751 armored fighting vehicles and 21,159 artillery systems during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Russia and Ukraine give almost no information about their losses in the war. Moscow officially last named the number of people killed in September 2022 – then 5,937 people died. Kyiv did not do this for a long time, saying that the data would be disclosed after the war.

The head of the Pentagon said on December 7 that Russia lost at least 700,000 soldiers during the large-scale war against Ukraine and spent more than 200 billion dollars on it.

The total losses of the military of Russia and Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation in 2022 could exceed one million – such an estimate was made by The Wall Street Journal on September 17. The WSJ estimated the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed at 80,000, Russian at approximately 200,000. About 400,000 people in the Ukrainian army and 400,000 in the Russian army were wounded, the newspaper writes.

Kyiv, commenting on the data published by The Wall Street Journal about Ukraine’s losses in the war, says that the real figure is “much lower.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on December 8 that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has lost 43,000 soldiers killed and 370,000 wounded.

According to his data, the losses of the Russian Federation exceed 750,000 – 198,000 dead and more than 550,000 wounded.
