Details: “While Putin’s oil revenues continue to fuel the fires of his illegal war, Ukrainian families are enduring cold, dark nights, often without heat, light or electricity, under constant Russian missile attacks,” Starmer said.

“These sanctions will increase the pressure on Putin’s war-obsessed economy,” he added.

Britain’s Foreign Office said today’s sanctions target 20 Shadow Fleet ships carrying illegal Russian oil, including Ocean Faye, Andaman Skies and Mianzimu, which each carried more than four million barrels of Russian oil in 2024.

The UK has so far imposed sanctions on more than 100 ships used to transport Russian energy, including 93 oil tankers.

At the same time, Starmer also announced the support of Ukraine in the amount of 35 million pounds to repair its energy network.

We will remind, on December 16, the Council of the EU adopted the 15th package of sanctions against Russia, designed to counteract the circumvention of sanctions by targeting the Russian “shadow fleet” and to weaken the Russian military-industrial complex.

And a group of 12 states that are part of the Nordic-Baltic eight “plus” format agreed to strengthen monitoring of vessels that may be part of Russia’s so-called shadow fleet.
