Great Britain allocates 35 million pounds sterling (over 44 million dollars) to Ukraine as emergency aid. Also, Britain added 20 vessels and two companies from Russia to the sanctions list. This is reported by the British government UNN.

Details

The UK is reportedly providing £35 million to help Ukraine restore its power system and support the most vulnerable in the third winter of war.

£20 million will support repairs to Ukraine’s energy system, provision of additional generating capacity and critical protection of energy infrastructure. In particular, the project to generate an additional 20 MW of electricity will be financed, which will enable up to 20,000 houses to be supplied with energy.

A further £15 million will go towards providing vital humanitarian aid to those most in need as temperatures plummet in Ukraine. Of this, £5 million will go to UNICEF to provide essential items. Another 10 million will be allocated through UNHCR to provide more than 21,000 families with rapid insulation kits, housing repairs and additional cash payments for the winter, as well as generators and housing insulation support for IDPs.

The country also introduces new sanctions against the Russian energy sector. Today’s sanctions target 20 Shadow Navy vessels that carried illegal Russian oil, including the Ocean Faye, Andaman Skies and Mianzimu, which carried more than four million barrels of Russian oil each in 2024.

Key companies providing Putin’s oil trade – 2Rivers DMCC and 2Rivers PTE LTD – also came under sanctions

These new measures will further empty Putin’s war chest, cutting into the oil revenues he so desperately needs to fuel his illegal war, and putting those who ensure Russian oil exports on notice.

In total, Great Britain has already imposed sanctions against more than 100 vessels carrying Russian energy, including 93 oil tankers.

Now, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Finland and Estonia, as well as the UK, have agreed to work together to check suspicious shadow vessels on the Baltic coast, to hold shadow vessels and those who support them to account for the risks they pose and support , which they provide to the military machine of Russia.
