Representatives of 12 African countries went to Donetsk region.
As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, South Sudan, Comoros Islands, Equatorial Guinea, Djibouti, Eswatini, Zambia, Somalia and Mozambique went to Donetsk region.
“By taking part in the Russian propaganda campaign, the African parliamentarians showed gross disrespect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and disregarded the fundamental principles of international law. The statements they made during this visit about opposing colonialism, made on Ukrainian land, which was illegally seized by Russia in during the neo-colonial war of aggression against Ukraine,” the statement reads.
It is emphasized that this trip contradicts the statements of African Union officials from February 24, 2022 regarding respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demands that the leadership of the African Union and the Pan-African Parliament strongly condemn this visit and in the future avoid any contact with representatives of Russian proteges in the captured territories of Ukraine.
Denys Pushylin, the leader of militants in the occupied part of Donetsk region, reported on the visit of the African delegation.
Pushylin stated that all parliamentarians allegedly “expressed support for Donbas and solidarity with Russia” / Telegram / Pushylin D.V.He noted that 16 parliamentarians from 12 African countries visited Donetsk region. The delegation was led by the Vice-President of the Pan-African Parliament, Gayo Ashebir.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the idea of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, about a “Christmas truce”. In particular, the department called on the high-ranking officials of Hungary not to imitate the role of a “peacemaker” and not to manipulate the theme of Christmas.
“Hungarian officials are once again claiming that they are supposedly able to stop the war, but these claims are not true. In fact, after Hungarian “peacekeeping” calls to Moscow, deadly missiles and drones are flying over Ukrainian cities and communities,” the message emphasizes.
