The International Federation of Football History and Statistics IFFHS has published the ranking of the best goalkeepers based on the results of 2024.

The best goalkeeper was Argentinian Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa, who received 167 votes. Together with the Argentine national team, he won the 2024 Copa America, and also secured a ticket for the “lions” to the Champions League.

Second place went to the European champion, Spaniard Unai Simon from Athletic, and Georgian Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia rounded out the top three.

Real Madrid’s Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin took sixth place with 25 votes, as did Inter Milan’s Jan Sommer. Lunin’s competitor, Thibaut Courtois, took fifth place after winning the ranking last year.

This season, Lunin played five matches, two of which were clean sheets with eight goals conceded.

Earlier, IFFHS recognized Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri, who won the Ballon d’Or, as the best player of the year.
