Learn how to make a powerful power bank if you have a car battery.How to assemble a power bank from a 12V batteryThe first thing to understand is that it doesn’t matter what kind of battery you found, as long as it is working. The requirements for it in this case will be much less, because the device will not become part of a large mechanism, but will only provide electricity for other equipment.
It should be noted right away that a charging station from a car battery is possible only through an inverter. The reason is that the batteries in the cars produce a voltage of 12V, and we need 220V for all the equipment to work correctly. So, an inverter is needed – a device that will become a 12V to 220V converter.
Such an uninterrupted inverter and battery will work even without serious financial investments. For example, the cost of an inverter varies depending on the functional features, but the most budget option is any working battery + inverter + network charging for the battery. Many drivers know how it is needed if the car has been idle for a long time or does not start in winter.
Accordingly, to implement this idea you need:
- a battery with a capacity of at least 70-75 A*h;
- inverter;
- mains charging 12V;
- power cables 25-35 mm² for connection;
- fuse;
- terminals;
- multimeter
The price of an ordinary inverter is approximately 2-3 thousand hryvnias, but more complex and multifunctional models, which can even be charged in the presence of light, cost twice as much. When choosing an inverter, focus on your financial capabilities.
How to make an uninterruptible power supply from a car batteryIf you have found or bought all the necessary devices, you need to correctly connect the battery to the inverter in order to make the same powerful power bank from the car battery.
Before connecting, the inverter must be turned off and the battery must be fully charged. Place both devices in a well-ventilated room, as they will heat up while working.
Start assembling a battery pack from a car battery by following the sequence of actions:
- connect the cable with the + sign (marked in red) to the battery terminal with the + sign;
- connect the cable with the sign – (marked in black) to the battery terminal with the sign -;
- connect the cable with the + sign to the inverter terminal with the + sign;
- connect the cable with the – sign to the inverter terminal with the – sign.
At the end, you need to take a multimeter and check the voltage at the battery terminals – they must meet the requirements that depend on the type of inverter you bought. Do not forget to put a fuse between the battery and the inverter.
After that, you only need to turn on the inverter when it is connected to the battery through the terminals, using the switch located on the body of the device. If everything works correctly, you can connect household appliances. You should not power devices that consume more power than the inverter can provide in this way, otherwise you risk overloading it.
