“We have to do our best, we did our best. We’ll see what happens. Since the election, we have been working every day so that the world can rest a little, to get rid of wars,” said the US president-elect.
Asked whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should be prepared to make sacrifices to end the war, Trump said he “should prepare to make a deal.”
“There must be a deal. Too many people die… And [російський диктатор Володимир] Putin must make a deal,” said the US president-elect.
Trump’s “peace plan” for Ukraine
On November 6, The Wall Street Journal reported that Donald Trump’s advisers put forward different versions of the plan to effectively freeze the front line in Ukraine. One of them provides for Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO for 20 years.
According to the publication, this plan involves freezing the front line and creating an 800-mile demilitarized zone (almost 1300 km). In addition, it provides for Russia to leave approximately 20% of the territory of Ukraine, which the aggressor country seized.
On November 7, it was reported that the Office of the President of Ukraine doubted the authenticity of this plan.

In December, in a comment to The New York Post, Trump said that he was “formulating a concept” of peace for Ukraine. He also emphasized that Putin lost because he lost 700,000 people at the front.
The NBC News channel, citing sources, wrote about the negotiations between the teams of Trump, Joe Biden and Zelensky about ending the war. The President-elect of the United States, according to sources, is serious about achieving a ceasefire on the first day of his presidency.
On December 15, Congressman Mike Waltz of Florida, whom Trump is going to appoint as his national security adviser, said that the president-elect’s team is thinking about how to stop Russia’s war against Ukraine, not just a temporary ceasefire.
