Defense Minister Andriy Belousov announced this at the collegium of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.“We will accept four Tu-160M strategic missile carriers as part of the aviation strategic forces,” said a high-ranking Russian official.
Belousov added that in 2025, the army will also receive a strategic nuclear submarine “Knyaz Pozharsky”. This is a project 955 “Borey” submarine, which belongs to the fourth (last for today) generation.

The Russian project to modernize the Tu-160 provided for the installation of new radio-electronic equipment and weapons. At the same time, the Tu-160M inherited the main shortcoming of the Soviet aircraft – the lack of stealth.
In the future, the Russians may replace the Tu-160 with a new low-visibility aircraft that is being developed under the PAK DA program (Prospective Long-Range Aviation Complex). However, so far the prospects of this program are rather vague.
