The parliament at the conciliation council can consider Boyko-Kondratyuk’s statements

The deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratyuk, said that the parliament can at the conciliation council consider the statements of the head of the Platform for Life and Peace parliamentary group Yuriy Boyko, which repeat Russian propaganda.

“The issue of unity is the key to Ukraine’s future. Therefore, of course, when we see such expressive statements, this is only evidence that some political forces have smelled the election. And this is very, in my opinion, shameful… They need an adequate political response. I think that we at the Conciliation Council of the Parliament will also consider this – the first. And the second – of course, each of us as a citizen will give it an assessment,” said Kondratyuk on December 16, talking to journalists at the “Law and Justice: Strengthening Cooperation in War Conditions” forum, RFE/RL’s correspondent reports.

Answering the question about what the parliament can do in this case, she called to wait for a decision.

“Let’s see what the parliament can do in this case. The worst thing that can happen is when Russia also uses this issue. The disorder in the country, which may appear in the parliament, is only in the hands of Russia,” said the vice-speaker.

The day before, People’s Deputy Yuriy Boyko, the former co-chairman of the “Opposition Platform – For Life” party, which was banned in 2022, posted a video on TikTok in which he accused unnamed “radicals” of forbidding people in Ukraine to speak their native language, go to church, which they want, demolish monuments and rename cities.

“This movement continues, violence against people continues. That is why more and more people support us – those who oppose such violence, for unity in the country, for the support of the people,” said Boyko, who was previously the Minister of Fuel and Energy in the government of the now fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, responding to the statement of the chairman of the Platform for Life and Peace parliamentary group, said that it is impossible to talk about violence and not mention Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
