The emergency dispatch service received a report about a fire in a private residential building from neighbors.
“Already at the scene, the neighbors said that there may be three children in the house. “Rescuers have started a search,” the message reads.
As a result, local residents found a boy born in 2019 in a woodshed before the rescue unit arrived. He was frightened, but unharmed. The older sister was at school. And the fate of another boy remained unknown.
Even after the fire was extinguished, rescuers found the body of a child born in 2020 on a burnt bed.
The grandmother was the guardian of the children. She left the baby for a few minutes to go to the store. The cause of the tragedy is still being established.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 9,500 fires have been recorded in Ukraine due to improper use of alternative power sources during emergency power outages.
In Romanov, Zhytomyr Oblast, a rescuer was killed and another was injured while fighting a fire.
