A triple road accident involving a road train took place near Lviv: many were killed and some were injured

On Sunday, December 15, a triple traffic accident involving a road train, a car and a minibus took place near Lviv, the local police report said.

“The accident happened today, December 15, at 5:30 a.m. on the highway “Ternopil – Lviv – Rava-Ruska” near the village of Chyzhikiv, Lviv district,” say law enforcement officers

As previously determined by the police, there was a collision of three vehicles – a BMW car, a DAF truck, and a Mercedes Sprinter minibus.

“Seven people – passengers of a Mercedes Sprinter minibus, whose data are being verified – died on the spot as a result of the injuries received as a result of the road accident,” the police said.

In addition, the police say, three people were injured – a 45-year-old truck driver, a 39-year-old minibus driver and his 23-year-old female passenger. They are hospitalized in Lviv medical facilities.

Earlier, on November 22, a passenger car and a Hust-Lviv regular bus collided in Transcarpathia, the 22-year-old driver of the passenger car was killed.

In the spring, the head of the patrol police department, Oleksiy Biloshitskyi, said that in Ukraine, an unprecedentedly high level of traffic accidents due to driving while intoxicated is recorded. According to his data, given in May, for four months of the year, the police recorded almost 50,000 cases of drunken driving. Last year, there were 151,000 materials with recorded facts of driving under the influence of alcohol.
