Specialists of the Department of Social Security of the Ministry of Defense have prepared a detailed report on the components of this financial support. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It is noted that the financial support of military personnel is a set of payments guaranteed by the state, which are provided to military personnel for their military duties.

In 2024, the minimum amount of financial support is UAH 20,100. The size of a military serviceman’s financial support also depends on the type (kind) of troops in which this serviceman is serving. In particular, the amount of monetary support differs in the Ground, Airborne Assault Forces, and Special Operations Forces.

Payments include:

  • Main payments: official salary, salary according to military rank, seniority allowance.
  • Additional payments: salary increase, various allowances, additional payments and rewards of a permanent nature, as well as a bonus.
  • Lump sum payments: Rewards and allowances given under certain circumstances.
  • The main types of monthly cash support for servicemen of the Armed Forces include permanent components, which are paid to each serviceman depending on his rank, position and length of service. These types of security include:

  • The official salary is the main part of the financial support, which depends on the military position. Higher positions have higher salaries, which determine the basic level of monetary support.
  • Salary by military rank is a component of a military serviceman’s financial support, which is paid to him depending on the assigned military rank (for example, private, sergeant, lieutenant) regardless of the position held by the military serviceman.
  • Seniority allowance is a payment received by a serviceman for the duration of his service in the Armed Forces or other power structures. This allowance is calculated as a percentage of salaries (official and military rank) and increases with the number of years of service, starting from 5% (for 1 year of service) to 50% (for 25 years and more).
  • The monthly additional types of monetary support for servicemen of the Armed Forces include:

  • The increase in official salary is a basic salary increase for military personnel serving in military service in the territories of settlements that have been granted mountain status and on Zmiiny Island.
  • Allowances are payments for specific features of service, for service in the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces, qualification, qualification category, performance of the functions of a state expert on secrets, work under regime restrictions, continuous experience in encryption work, honorary and sports titles, servicemen-donors.
  • Supplements are payments for an acquired scientific degree, for example, a candidate of science or a doctor of science, as well as for a received academic title, for example, associate professor or professor. Military personnel occupying specified positions may receive an additional 5% to 10% of their official salary, depending on the level of achievements in scientific and professional activities.
  • Remuneration to military personnel who hold positions related to the direct performance of cyber security and cyber defense tasks is a special form of material incentive for persons who are engaged in critical functions in the field of cyber defense of national security. Military personnel working with cyber defense receive compensation that can be up to 100% of rank pay, rank pay, and seniority allowances depending on the level of tasks performed.
  • Remuneration for special features of service (training) during martial law (special period) is a monthly payment of UAH 2,350 to cadets of higher military educational institutions who were not in military service before enrolling in training.
  • Bonus – a monthly payment to military personnel in accordance with their personal contribution to the overall results of the service. On average, the premium is from UAH 15,000 to UAH 30,000.
  • Rewards are one-time additional types of financial support for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

    During the period of martial law, additional remuneration is paid to military personnel in the following amounts in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated February 28, 2022 No. 168:

    • UAH 100,000 – to those who take a direct part in hostilities or the implementation of measures necessary to ensure the defense of Ukraine, the protection of the safety of the population and the interests of the state in connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
    • UAH 50,000 – to servicemen who perform combat (special) tasks as part of a military command body, the headquarters of a group of troops (forces), or the headquarters of a tactical group up to and including the control point of an operational-strategic group of troops, as well as as part of the command and headquarters of a military unit (combined subdivision) (including outside the areas of combat (military) operations).
    • UAH 30,000 – to servicemen who perform combat (special) tasks in accordance with combat orders (orders).

    Military servicemen who are simultaneously entitled to receive additional remuneration under different conditions, this additional remuneration is paid in a larger amount, calculated per month in proportion to the time spent on combat (special) tasks.

    Also, a one-time reward of 70,000 hryvnias is additionally paid for every 30 days (totally calculated) of combat (special) missions.

    Payments to military personnel and their families are important newsEarlier, UNIAN wrote that a military man with the call sign “Jew” told about the fact that wounded soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are massively denied payments and taken out of state. According to him, many soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are hospitalized with injuries, they are taken out of state and “pay pennies”.

    On November 19, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed a draft law, according to which military personnel are given the opportunity to independently determine who will receive payments in the event of their capture or disappearance.
