– At the start, relations with housewives were clarified. Last year, we also had the opportunity to meet with them, and they added significantly. If earlier this team defended with great strength and thought only not to miss a lot, now it possessed the ball much more often, tried to combine.
We had to make a lot of effort to tip the scales in our favor – 2:0. By the way, for the second time we scored in stoppage time, and as it turned out later, this goal came in very handy.
– Since only three national teams competed in our group, in order to secure the first place ahead of time, it was necessary to beat the Israelis…
– Even before the break, our girls, as they say, could have closed the match, but they did not use four exits face to face with the opponents’ goalkeeper, who also made a good impression. And almost immediately after the break, the ball unexpectedly ended up in the net of our goal.
However, thanks to the skillful actions in the middle of the field by the captain of the national team Lidia Zaborovets, it was possible to seize the initiative and quickly restore parity. Moreover, one of the leaders of the Israeli women was removed, but the game did not bring us any dividends for the most part. And all because of excessive excitement, and we had to accept a draw – 1:1.
– Were there any fears that in the final round the Israeli women would win a crushing victory over the host women and manage to overtake the Ukrainian women in the ratio of scored and missed goals?
– No, I was sure that the Armenian women would not miss much. They played at home, the fans came, in the end they had more time to recover. The Israeli women won as expected, but with a score of 2:0, which suited our team. Because with the same indicators, the team with fewer disciplinary violations had an advantage. And here the advantage of my wards was tangible.
I am glad that the Ukrainian women will play again in League A. On December 6, we will find out the opponents with whom we will meet already in the spring of 2025 in the second round of selection for the final part of the European Championship.
