OP: Ukraine and Norway will work together to produce weapons

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi discussed arms production in Ukraine during a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Har Støre, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported on November 29.

It is noted that the leaders also raised the topic of Ukraine’s priority needs. Against the background of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, these are generators, other energy equipment and additional air defense equipment.

“The head of state thanked for yesterday’s decision of the parliament of Norway to increase aid to Ukraine for the next year from 1.4 billion dollars to 3.2 billion dollars and especially noted its unanimous support by all parliamentary forces,” the message reads.

Zelenskyi emphasized that part of these funds will go to Ukraine’s own production of drones and other weapons.

The day before, Norway decided to allocate more than two billion dollars to support Ukraine next year.

At least NOK 35 billion will be allocated to the support program in 2025. Of these, 22.5 billion (approximately $1.5 billion) will be allocated for military support, and 12.5 billion for humanitarian and civilian support.

In February 2023, Norway’s parliament approved a multi-year support program for Ukraine worth NOK 75 billion ($7.3 billion) – NOK 15 billion annually.

On September 20, it became known that Norway will extend its aid package to Ukraine until 2030, increasing the total amount to 135 billion kroner, Prime Minister Jonas Haar Støre said.

Kiev is constantly calling on its Western allies to supply more modern weapons and air defense systems that would help it, on the one hand, protect the skies, and, on the other hand, allow it to strike military targets deeper in Russia to prevent Moscow’s attacks.
