““If Putin succeeds in turning Ukraine into a vassal state, he will not stop there,” said Richard Moore”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
“Recently, we discovered a shockingly reckless campaign of Russian sabotage in Europe. Putin and his henchmen even resort to rattling nuclear weapons to sow fear about the consequences of aid to Ukraine,” said the head of the service that oversees foreign intelligence.
Moore expressed the view that Europe and its transatlantic partners must remain resilient in the face of aggression, which he said is only increasing, as quoted by Voice of America:
“If Putin succeeds in turning Ukraine into a vassal state, he will not stop there. Our security – British, French, European and transatlantic – will be at risk.”
The head of MI6 also warned that if Russia achieves its goals for war with Ukraine, “China will weigh the consequences, North Korea will be emboldened, and Iran will become even more dangerous.”
Moore’s words came amid numerous reports of acts of sabotage, espionage and other hostile actions in various countries in Europe and North America, which law enforcement agencies say may be behind Russia.
In the winter of this year, the underwater electric cable connecting Finland and Estonia was broken. In October 2023, telecommunication cables connecting Estonia with Finland and Sweden were damaged. At the same time, the Balticconnector gas pipeline was damaged. China later said that the damage to the Balticconnector was caused by a Hong Kong-flagged vessel that had anchored the gas pipeline during a storm.
