The Agency for Search and Management of Assets (ARMA) sold 80 paintings from the collection of ex-Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk, accused of treason, the press service of ARMA reported on November 28.

“The total amount of sales of the collection is currently 1,021,760 hryvnias. In addition, the process of implementation of another 56 canvases is ongoing,” the message says.

On October 31, ARMA announced the start of the sale of the collection of Viktor Medvedchuk’s paintings. Previously, the collection of 136 paintings was valued at almost 4 million hryvnias.

Previously, experts of the National Art Museum of Ukraine examined only 285 paintings. Of them, 149 paintings are recognized as having cultural and historical value. These 149 paintings were supposed to be transferred to Ukrainian museums, but draft law No. 11280-1 on the peculiarities of the management of cultural values and other assets did not receive a sufficient number of votes among people’s deputies, the report states.

At a meeting on July 19, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv granted the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office to seize the yacht Royal Romance, which belongs to Viktor Medvedchuk, and hand it over to the National Agency of Ukraine for Identification, Search and Asset Management (ARMA).

The agency noted that a collection of watches, a Maybach car, ATVs and buggies had already been sold.

In the past, Medvedchuk was one of the richest people in Ukraine, as well as a politician, the leader of the opposition faction in the Verkhovna Rada. The best man of the Russian president is accused of treason and violation of the customs of war. Ukrainian law enforcement officers detained him in April 2022. In September of the same year, Medvedchuk was handed over to Russia as part of a large-scale exchange of prisoners. In January 2023, the President of Ukraine deprived Medvedchuk of his Ukrainian citizenship.
