The WTA issued an official statement regarding the Sveontek doping scandal

Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) released official statement regarding this situation in which Iga got into:

“The WTA recognizes the decision of the International Tennis Integrity Association (ITIA), which administers the Tennis Anti-Doping Program (TADP), to award Iza Sveontek a one-month suspension following the discovery of a contaminated controlled substance (melatonin) as the source of her positive test for the banned substance trimetazidine.

The WTA fully supports Iga during this difficult time. Iga has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to fair play and clean sport, and this sad incident highlights the challenges athletes face when using drugs and supplements.

The WTA remains steadfast in its support for clean sport and rigorous processes that protect the integrity of competition.
