The statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry about the readiness to exchange 630 prisoners of war may be part of an informational and psychological operation, since no offers were received by Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reports, this was stated by Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets during the opening of the Center for the Protection of Human Rights in Chernivtsi.

Responding to journalists’ questions about the statement of the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, regarding the preparation for the exchange of 630 prisoners of war, the Ukrainian Ombudsman said: “I consider such statements by representatives of the Russian Federation as an additional attempt to launch an informational and psychological special operation against our state. By the way, she called my last name there. I can officially say that I did not receive any lists, no one gave them to me. Although through intermediaries we tried to get information, lists from the Russian Federation.”

At the same time, the Ukrainian ombudsman emphasized that work on the speedy return of Ukrainian military and civilians from Russian captivity is ongoing.

“We never name the terms, we never announce. But I can say for myself that the entire Ukrainian team, which is working towards the return of Ukrainian citizens from Russian captivity, conducts daily work to speed up this process,” said the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.

As reported, the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, announced the alleged readiness to exchange prisoners of war 630 for 630. According to her, Moscow is determined to return Russian soldiers home as soon as possible, but, they say, Ukraine is not going to exchange.

Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, explained earlier why he does not believe in a large-scale exchange of “all for all” with the Russian Federation in the near future. The aggressor country will not go for it, since it has much more prisoners.

In total, more than 14,000 Ukrainians are detained in Russia and its controlled territories.
