After the meeting, the coach of the royal club Carlo Ancelotti held a press conference:

“The game was difficult, but we knew it would be like that. I think that now the games at Anfield are the most difficult in Europe. Liverpool has a good dynamic. We were in the game until the penalty, and then we lowered the level.

We defended well in the first half, although we could have used more counterattacks. I liked the team. I think we fought well against the toughest opponent in Europe. The result is fair because they deserved to win, but we fought. We are going to qualify for the playoffs, like last year. This is the way, we cannot think otherwise.

Like others, Mbappe struggled, fought. He didn’t play very well, he didn’t take penalties, and it will be a difficult moment, but we all support him. A missed penalty in such a game upsets the player a little, but he must look ahead.”

Real Madrid player Luka Modrych:

“This is the Champions League, there are difficult moments here. There are three matches left and we have to perform better than in the last games. I think we will succeed, because the team had good dynamics in La Liga.

In the first half, everything was going well for us, then penalties could have changed the course of the match, but we didn’t realize it. Then followed the second conceded goal, and the match was lost. We acted well in defense, played compactly. We had our shortcomings, but the biggest problems were in the final third.

We see that Mbappe works well in training. Sometimes he shows himself, and sometimes he doesn’t. Today he did not score a penalty, but we are confident in him and believe that Kylian will show what is expected of him. We still have a chance to get into the top 8, we must believe, but we need to do more. We have three difficult matches ahead of us, especially against Atalanta. It is too early to draw conclusions.”
