In the central match of the 5th round of the Champions League, Liverpool hosted Real Madrid. First, Jones received the ball on the approaches to the penalty area, put it under his right foot and shot – after the ricochet the ball passed near the corner.

Already in the next attack, the hosts were much more convincing – Alexis McAllister played with Conor Bradley near the penalty area and shot into the far corner from under Asensio – Kurta was powerless. 1:0. Vázquez eventually outwitted Robertson to earn his team a penalty, but Kelleher saved his team. The Liverpool goalkeeper figured out Mbappe’s plan and deflected Kylian’s shot from the eleven-meter mark.

The Reds had a similar chance later when Salah shook Mendy and got a leg. However, the Egyptian could not hit the corner of the goal – the ball just licked the post. Real really wanted to equalize, but Liverpool scored the second. Robertson’s cross from the wing was clearly on the head of Gakpo, who shot Courtois’ goal. 2:0.

In the remaining minutes, Liverpool came close to a goal. Diaz broke away at an angle face to face with Courtois, but he saved his team. The referee’s final whistle recorded a 2-0 victory for Liverpool.
