Shoppers rejoice as M&S’ ‘showstopping’ Christmas food tree makes comeback with ‘bombshell’ selection of snacks

SHOPPERS are rejoicing as M&S brings back its “showstopping” Christmas tree made out of food. And this year, the “Charcuter-tree” comes with a “bombshell” selection of new snacks.

The snacks include salchichon slices, chorizo slices, Manzanilla olives, Kalamata olives, gouda cheese cubes and a cheese star to place on top.

According to the Ocado website, the deli items are sourced from across Spain, Greece and the Netherlands.

In a Facebook post, the M&S branch in Corby, Northamptonshire described the edible decoration as a “showstopping new party showpiece” and a “build-your-own bombshell”.

The post was quickly shared to the Food Finds UK Official group, where it racked up 141 reacts and 256 comments.

One wrote: “This is a bit of me.”

Another told their pal: “You’ll love this.”

A third joked: “I’m done take my money.”

It comes after M&S also brought back its hugely popular Cinnamon Bun Mix – perfect for some winter baking.

The £2.50 kit makes eight soft and chewy cinnamon buns drizzled with icing and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.

And, Colin the Caterpillar fans rejoiced after the posh supermarket revealed a new festive edition – complete with a sleigh.

One excited shopper wrote: “Colin’s been upgraded this year guys prepare yourselves.”

The £15 festive Colin wears a red Santa hat and is pulling a present-filled sleigh with candy canes and white and milk chocolate gifts.

He even has white winter boots and Christmas-themed sprinkles which are red, white and green.

Meanwhile, a new Mince Pie Liqueur by the brand took the internet by storm, with one fan writing: “Always pulling it out the bag M&S!!! This is so cute.”

However, in sadder news, the supermarket announced that its iconic Percy Pig chocolate bombe was no more after customers noticed its absence from shelves.

And Baileys fans despaired after M&S’ cheaper dupe was also axed.

My M&S Xmas highlights

The Sun’s consumer editor Lynsey Barber got an early taste of Marks and Spencer’s Christmas food line up which includes 450 new items.

Here are the highlights.

White Mulled Wine, £6, 11% – 5/10

An interesting twist, but I prefer my white wine cool and crisp, so not for me.

Turkey Feast dip, TBC, – 10/10

A mouthful of Christmas, top of my shopping list and I’ll be eating it all winter.

Turkey Feast lasagne, £10 750g – 8/10

Rich and festive, another dish that is spot on with the essential flavours of Christmas, but I’d need a small portion as it’s very creamy.

Hot Honey Brie Brulee £7, 288g – 8/10

A cheesy dream, with extra zing from the hot honey and a bit of crunch, a great combo of flavours and a winter warmer.

Halloumi in Blankets with Hot Honey, £5.50, 240g – 10/10

A surprise hit with soft and creamy centres. Possibly better than the originals.
