The administration of US President Joe Biden plans to provide Ukraine with a new package of military aid in the amount of $725 million. This is reported by Reuters, transmits UNN.

Details

The move is part of efforts to support Kyiv before the end of Biden’s presidential term in January. According to sources close to the plan, the package will include a variety of weapons aimed at deterring the advance of Russian forces. Among the expected deliveries:

  • anti-tank weapons,
  • mines
  • drones,
  • Stinger missiles,
  • ammunition for HIMARS systems,
  • cluster munitions that can be used in GMLRS missiles.

It is expected that the official message to the US Congress regarding this package will come as early as Monday. However, the content and amount of aid may change before the document is signed by Joe Biden.

The contents and size of the package may change in the coming days before Biden’s expected signature.

This package will be the largest use of the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) for the emergency allocation of weapons from US warehouses. In the past, such packages have typically been $125-250 million, and Biden currently has access to another $4-5 billion in PDAs approved by Congress.

We will remind

The Biden administration has $6.5 billion to transfer weapons to Ukraine, but may not have time to use them before the end of the term. The Pentagon has reached its monthly supply limit and has logistical problems.
