President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte discussed the specific needs of Ukraine in air defense systems after the Russian strike with a new ballistic missile.
Volodymyr Zelensky wrote about this in his Telegram.
Zelenskyi recalled that the day before, the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council was held due to the use of a new ballistic missile by the Russian Federation. Therefore, on Wednesday, November 27, he and Rutte discussed the available response options – the necessary strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense.
“I named specific air defense systems that are needed and that can work. These air defense systems are available to partners,” Zelensky emphasized.
The president also emphasized that the decisions of the NATO summit in Washington regarding air defense and other supplies for the front have not yet been fully implemented.
“We expect this, and it significantly affects the motivation and morale of our people,” he noted.
The Ukrainian leader noted that the recent authorization of long-range strikes on military facilities in Russia has helped, but pressure on the Russian Federation must be maintained and increased at various levels.
“We discussed contacts with partners – with America and others – our coordinated work with them for the purpose of fulfilling what we have already agreed on, and for the necessary additional strengthening – both military and political. In particular, for the sake of inviting Ukraine to NATO,” Zelensky concluded.
On the morning of November 21, the Russian military struck the Dnieper with an intercontinental ballistic missile launched from the Astrakhan region. As a result of the attack, an unidentified industrial enterprise in the city (probably the “Pivdenmash” plant, which produces combat and space missiles), a medical facility and residential infrastructure were damaged.
In the afternoon, during an address to the citizens, Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Federation had hit Ukraine with a medium-range ballistic missile called “Oreshnik”.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after Russian dictator Putin’s statement about striking Ukraine with an Oreshnik medium-range missile, called on the world to react quickly and harshly.
