The law enforcement officers of the Kharkiv region informed about the suspicion of the 29-year-old mother of four children who died as a result of a fire on November 14, 2024 in the village of Pisochyn.
The tragedy claimed the lives of the brothers aged 4 to 9 and their 52-year-old grandfather. The fire was caused by the operation of electric heaters.
According to the investigation, a few days before the tragedy, the mother left the children under the supervision of her grandfather and 16-year-old brother and went about her own business. That day, all the children were in the house, the grandfather, as well as the young man, who is the only survivor and is in the hospital. The family was low-income, but social services, according to local officials, had no significant complaints about the mother.
The mother was charged under Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – malicious failure to fulfill parental duties, which caused serious consequences. The prosecutor’s office emphasizes that her actions showed frivolity and indifference to the fate of children.
The investigation is ongoing, and the question of responsibility for this tragedy remains under the control of law enforcement agencies.
