Ukraine welcomes the signing of the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, brokered by the United States and France.

This is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, reports Ukrinform.

“This is an important step towards peace and regional stability, which will help prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in Lebanon and contribute to a general reduction of tension in the Middle East,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its conviction that full compliance by the parties with their commitments will be important for achieving sustainable peace.

In October, Israel launched a ground operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

In November, Lebanon and the Hezbollah group agreed to a United States proposal for a cease-fire with Israel, but expressed reservations about its content.
