The Cabinet of Ministers made changes to the Regulation on the peculiarities of the import of electric energy in the conditions of the legal regime of martial law in Ukraine. Now, electricity restriction measures will not be applied to enterprises that import more than 60% of their consumption.

The resolution was adopted at a government meeting on November 26 at the proposal of the Ministry of Energy and taking into account appeals from electricity market participants, Ukrinform reports with reference to the ministry’s press service.

It is noted that the decision was made in order to create prerequisites for increasing the import of electric energy and ensuring the stability of the energy system.

“The decision of the government was adopted taking into account the increase of capacity limits for the import of electric energy to Ukraine from European countries to 2.1 GW. This will create additional incentives to attract a larger volume of commercial electricity imports, will allow to develop own electricity generation and ensure greater stability of the energy system in conditions of shortage”, – noted Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko.

According to the Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk, the Ministry of Energy is studying additional opportunities to encourage the import of electricity, where the key factors are the availability of electricity and the possibility of crossing at the right times.

On November 13, Ukrenergo temporarily introduced capacity restrictions for business and industrial consumers due to a short-term reduction in the capacity of shunting generation and a significant decrease in the volume of electricity imports.
