Threats from Polish farmers regarding the possibility of a blockade of all PPs on the Polish-Ukrainian border were heard during their negotiations with the Minister of Agriculture of Poland Czeslaw Sekerski in Medica. The Polish official said that he would prepare a response to the protesters’ demands by December 10. At the same time, Polish farmers expect strong opposition from Warsaw regarding the free trade agreement between the EU and the countries of South America. According to the Polish newspaper, they fear that “inaction may lead to the arrival of agricultural products from Mercosur countries (an economic union of states in South America, which includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia, and as associate members – Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador, – ed.) to the Polish market”. Also, Polish farmers demand that the government keep the agricultural tax for 2024 at the same level as in the previous year.
