Since the beginning of the day, 116 combat clashes took place on the front, the most battles were recorded in the Kurakhiv and Pokrovsky directions, the Ukrainian General Staff reported in its summary as of 16:00.

“On the Pokrovsky direction, the enemy carried out 29 assaults in the areas of Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Hryhorivka, Petrivka, Dachenske, Pushkine and Pustinka settlements. Defense forces of Ukraine restrained the onslaught of Russian troops and repelled 20 attacks, currently nine battles are still going on. In the Kurakhiv direction, the invaders attacked 27 times near Sontsivka, Berestki, Kurakhovo, Uspenivka, Elizavetivka, and Hannivka. 23 attempts by the occupiers to advance have already been repulsed. The fighting continues – the hottest at the moment near Kurakhovo. Enemy aviation struck Dachnoy,” the message reads.

In addition, according to the General Staff, combat operations took place in the Kharkiv, Kupyan, Lyman, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Vremiv, Orihiv, Prydniprovsk directions and in Kurshchyna.

In their report released on November 24, analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that the Russian military in Donbas has recently been advancing much faster than in the whole of 2023.

“The front line in the Donetsk region is becoming more and more volatile, as recently Russian troops have been advancing much faster than during the entire year of 2023,” the experts point out.

According to their conclusions, the advance of Russian troops is to a large extent “the result of the identification and tactical use of vulnerable places on Ukrainian lines.”

At the end of last week, the Reuters agency, citing a high-ranking Ukrainian military source, wrote that in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, due to Russian counterattacks, Ukraine lost more than 40% of the territory it captured during hostilities in August.

By advancing on Kursk, the Armed Forces aimed to halt Russian attacks in eastern and northeastern Ukraine, force Russia to withdraw its forces, and give Kyiv additional leverage in any future peace negotiations. But Russian troops continue to advance in the Donetsk region.
