Ukraine plans to seriously increase the throughput on the western border.

This involves the project of the Strategy for the development of border infrastructure with the European Union and Moldova until 2030.
“Due to the full-scale invasion, the load on the checkpoints has increased many times, so we need to adapt the border to the existing needs,” explained Derkach.
Increase the capacity of the border infrastructure by reconstructing the existing checkpoints and building new ones, including access roads.
We are talking, for example, about the reconstruction of six checkpoints with Poland, three – on the border with Slovakia, five – with Romania, three – with Hungary and 11 – with Moldova.
We are also talking about the construction of new checkpoints, in particular Bila Tserkva – Sigetu-Marmatsiei, Bila Krynytsia – Klimeuti, Ruska – Ulma and Shepit – Izvoreale Sucevei on the border with Romania, Velyka Palady – Nadgodosh, Diyda – Beregdaroc – with Hungary.
Among the goals are also the introduction of joint control with neighboring states, reduction of waiting time in the queue and creation of a network of service areas.
Ukraine has already received approval from the European Commission, added Derkach. Ministry representatives held separate meetings with each OVA, where they agreed on priorities and joint plans for the development of the border.
