“From 60 to 55 years: the maximum age for military service is proposed to be reduced Draft law No. 12222 on lowering the age limit for military service from 60 to 55 years has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. The initiative is justified by the poor health of older military personnel and the need for rotation.”, — write on: unn.ua
I propose to reduce the age limit for military service and in the reserve from 60 to 55 years. The corresponding bill No. 12222 has already been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada
The People’s Deputy also explained why, in his opinion, it is necessary to adopt the draft law.
- Most men between the ages of 55 and 60 are in poorer health, often considered “limited fit” and physically unable to perform all combat tasks.
- Military serving from 2022, especially those who have been injured or reached the age of 50+, will need to be rotated or demobilized.
- Commanders point out that “the army is getting older”, and older servicemen cannot always effectively perform certain combat tasks.
- At the same time, those who want to continue their service will be able to do so at their own will.
Also, as the People’s Deputy pointed out, Ukrainians support this initiative: the petition to lower the maximum age of mobilization to 55 has garnered 25,000 votes, Goncharenko added.
Addition
People’s deputy and member of the Verkhovna Rada committee on national security, defense and intelligence Fedir Venislavskyi said that now we should not expect any changes in the issue of mobilization.
