A Russian-made Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane caught fire after landing at Antalya Airport in southern Turkey, local media reported.

The plane of the Russian airline “Azimut” arrived from Sochi. A few minutes after landing, his engine was engulfed in flames and thick smoke.

It is noted that “emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.”

As a result, 79 passengers were evacuated, there were no casualties, noted the deputy governor of Antalya. This information was also later confirmed by Rosaviatsia.

Russian mass media write that the plane’s fuel tanks located in its wings may have been damaged, fuel spilled, and it caught fire. The possible damage to the tanks was apparently caused by a strong impact on the ground during landing – this is what the passengers say.

Earlier it became known that Russian airlines stopped using more than half of the Airbus neo family aircraft due to engine wear.

Of the 66 A320/A321neo aircraft, 34 are currently idle. Some are placed in reserve to preserve the engine resource until the high season. However, according to the estimation of the interlocutors of the newspaper, from 10 to 15 boards may no longer return to flights.

The most difficult situation is in the S7 airline, which does not fly 31 of the 39 aircraft of the Airbus neo family. In just one year, the number of A320/A321neo parked at S7 has more than doubled.
